Develop Non-Colonialist Participation.
No-colonial partnership
Convener : Fred
List of participants : Marco, Licinia, Fred, Eugenia, Marta, Emmanuelle
Discussion and recommendations (important guideline : KISS [Keep It Simple, Stupid]) :

- Recognize that the cooperation between organisations may be unidirectional. Some partners may have superiority “complex” when we do a partnership ; it is a tendency for the one that propose the partnership to impose. It’s true, they have the money and competence but that shouldn’t be a reason to impose their view of what we are or what we want.
- What is a colonialist approach ? What isn’t a colonialist approach ?
- Receive and give.
- To develop a common partnership
- A project that is done before you know the reality
- Try to see all the forces that are involved, to use what is useful without judgement
- Colonialist – assimilate
- Non colonialist – integrate
- To have common goals. Not to share convictions
- To start by establishing the goals
- To talk
- Not to impose, but to expose, to stimulate
- Respect the time : time each others needs time to do, time to get used to, time to understand.
- To aim small – by changing / understanding one person – That is already very good.
- Non colonial partnership – imagine a men or a women with legs (associations), each leg has its space. If there is no space is ok, he has to say, but we cannot overlap.
